In 2017 transgender equality has risen to the forefront of social movements. All across the country states have been proposing bills that would restrict bathroom usage to a person's biological sex determined at birth. It is up to all of us to stand up against inequality and ensure everyone has an equal chance. Adelynn is a college student and an avid human rights activist. She has done extensive work in promoting LGBT+ equality and visibility within the University setting. Adelynn created an LGBT student organization at her school; the University of North Dakota. Since then, her template has been used to create other LGBT+ organizations at different aviation colleges all around the country. Adelynn Mrosko is an undergraduate student at the University of North Dakota majoring in Commercial Aviation. In her time at UND, Adelynn has done extensive work in promoting LGBT+ visibility and equality within the aerospace college. In late 2015, she created the first ever university chapter for the National Gay Pilots Association at the University of North Dakota. Since then, Adelynn’s templet has been used to create more NGPA university chapters at different aerospace colleges all around the country. Currently, Adelynn is an advocacy writer at the National Gay Pilots Association. Over the past two years, her writing has been focused on educating the aviation community on current transgender issues. Susie Green shares the inspirational story of her transgender daughter, who told her when she was four that she should have been born a girl. Susie is the CEO of Mermaids, a charity that supports gender variant children, young people and their families. Susie became involved with Mermaids when she needed support for her daughter, Jackie. Susie has expanded the charity’s capacity and funding, as well as developing the services it offers. She campaigns for the provision of more services and respectful media representation of transgender people. Brett Trapp recently left Corporate America to pursue his dream of becoming a writer and storyteller. When Evangelical Christian mom Susan Cottrell’s daughter came out, she faced an impossible choice: her LGBTQ child or her non-affirming church. In this heartwarming talk, Susan explains why she chose her LGBTQ child and how she fights for progress inside the Christian Church. Susan Cottrell is a prominent voice for faith parents of LGBTQI children. She is an international speaker, acclaimed author, and public theologian with a Masters in Theological Studies. After spending 25 years in the Evangelical church, she founded FreedHearts to champion the LGBTQI community and their families. She served as the Vice-President of PFLAG Austin (Texas) and was endorsed by The Human Rights Campaign and The Gay Christian Network. She has five children, two of whom are in the LGBTQI community, with her husband of 30 years, Rob.
